Do you think Chinas effort to put a good image on their country has been over done???

e.g those fake fireworks, the pretier girl lip-synching, the chines police attitude towards the media, the old villages/houses being destroyed for the new stadiums, the billions spent etc...

  1. Expectations are v high. Doubts are v high. Standards are v high. All and all  are very high.  China got it hard and must hit it hard. U asked for it.China has no choice. Move its people, move their properties and move in everything to make it for you to see. See China doing it. Over done is their best recipe and  much better than half done esp. to treat Westerners. Raw meat tastes awful ... a well grilled Chinese preparation.Well Done.

  2. I think it's a part of their culture to please and present themselves well....but I am enjoying the games and good on them for trying to put on a good show

  3. They are damned if they do and damned if they don't.  They are a third world country trying to put on a world class event and leave a good impression.  If they didn't try their best, people would complain.  Now that they have put on a good show, people are complaining it's too much.  What the heck do you want from them?

  4. any country who hosts tries their best to put on a good "show" for the world, isn't it? china MIGHT be overdoing it but i think its cos of all the negative things ppl say about them and how they dun think they can do anything right cos it's china. Anyone who is being fired at will defend themselves and show ppl how good they are. if you want to talk about other stuff, how come no one is commenting on the issue of sichuan earthquake?? How the government was quick to act, how chinese ppl came together as one from all over the world??Why not donate some money for those ppl?? Why cant ppl talk about the good things, wouldn't it make the world a better place?? Why always talk negative and make a small issue into a high stuff for debate??

I think more focus should be put on the games itself, not the government, that's not what olympics is about. Athletes from all over the world work so hard for this moment, and all ppl can say is stuff that is irrelevant.

  5. totally not part of their culture to please or to present themselves well...

but the national pride is almost as strong as that of Americans, and China  wanted to prove to the rest of the world that they're right about that.

It's awful, the number of homes destroyed, homeless disappearing, rushed construction efforts which led to more deaths, and the loss of jobs in an effort to modernize, etc...

  6. yeah they seem kinda obsessed, for no reason. its lame
