Question:

Olympics: Feel the enthusiasm? No?

I'm surprised that I have so little enthusiasm for the whole thing. The background of China and human rights? The time difference? The parroting 'Don't ask- Don't tell' hypocrisy from the USA basketball stars? Or is it the shadow of Marion Jones that makes it so I doubt the achievement of any of the athletes? All of these?

  1. where there is no justice, there is no enthusiasm.

  2. I am struck by how hard the Chinese are trying to re-tool their image to the world when in fact they suck. They are their biggest fans. The Chinese people HAVE to go along with it. They have no choice. What makes me sad is the driving force behind the Chinese athletes. If they don't get Gold, they are pretty much doomed. What kind of spirit is that?

Our US athletes did to themselves what they chose to do. The Chinese recruit children as young as 2 years old and put them in training camps. Away from their parents. 7 days a week. They work them to death. They push and squeeze them to perfection. Even if they don't want to do it. They have no choice. That breaks my ******* heart. Have you seen the footage of the tiny little girls who are crying because of the rigors of the training? They are being robbed of childhood. But it's all about the China image. At any cost. It is wrong and it not unlike the Romanians or the Soviets back in the day. It still exists. Even though we have overshadows, at least our athlete could make their own choices.  Back in the day of Nadia, they were feeding the girls hormones to keep them small, from growing. I 've always wondered, how Nadia could retain her record given the fact it was no secret they were kept small through hormones in their food.

  3. wasn't the olympics about unifiying the countries of the world?...kind of lacking considering the wars that are always going on...i don't get it

  4. well frankly i am excited and ready to watch it i think its grat i geuss you have lost abit of it but not me I am ready and they will fix whatever goes wrong they alwasy do.

  5. Yeah, I feel it too. I think it's because everyone knows that behind all the glamor and smiles, China is still torturing and killing people, and still getting rewarded for it by being allowed to host the games.

AND I WOULD WATCH THE GYMNASTICS!

It's the cycling I don't care about, lol.

  6. I really don't care about sport and the Olympics isn't any different. I don't feel that China should have been allowed to sponsor anything let alone a major event like that.

  7. The olympics suck.China sucks because they abuse human rights and give their citizens little freedom. The US basketball team will fail. All of these reasons make the olympics so lackluster and boring.Plus it is all the events people do not normally care about.Honestly, who would watch gymnastics if it were not for the olympics?

  8. I'm not into the olympics because i'm not into sports.

  9. Normally I get so stoked for the Olympics, but not this year.

  10. sports ain't what it used to be.

  11. i still love the olympics, this year i just hate where its being held

i hate the fact that they removed people from their homes just so they could put a rose garden in.

im glad we are not a dictatorship

  12. This is the one time, well, kind of, the only time that the entire world puts aside their differences and comes together as one world.  The location of the games should not affect the enthusiasm for the Olympics. It's just a place where they are held.

  13. nobody is prefect, lets go on with the show as they say in Hollywood!

  14. no, ever since sydney the enthusiasm is decreasing, like look at all these bad things that are going on. war, death, kidnapping, helpless children dying, gas prices up so high, food price. foreclosure, firing. yup, nobody cares for olympics cos at least one of those thngs is happening to them.

  15. What do you really know about the supposed human rights violations in China and those in the US?

  16. i cant wait for the 2 weeks to be up and they go away

  17. i love gymnastics

  18. ):

  19. I agree with you completely.

  20. I'm bored of any of the Olympics regardless of what nation is hosting the "veneer" of the sports world. Jaded really.

It has become like Christmas, Easter, and birthdays. All about the money now. It's all about the money.

  21. I'm only watching to see my cousin run the 10,000 m. Go Kara!!
