McDonalds sponsoring the Olympics. is this contradictory or what?

McDonalds is the symbol of trash food, obese people, heart disease. Trans fatty acids, corporate greed.

Olympics are the symbol of athletics, healthy living, taking care of your body. Is there a contradiction here.

Isn't McDonalds sponsoring the Olympics kind of like a slaughterhouse sponsoring animal-rights groups.

  1. Yes, it seems funny, but we often see strange things when it comes to endorsements. In the 1970s, Olympic swimmer Mark Spitz signed an endorsement deal with Camel cigarettes. Can you image seeing Michael Phelps in cigarette ads? That would be weird.

  2. That is something my brother would say who is a vegan, but yes that is true.

  3. Hahaha i never taught about that

  4. First of all, they'll pretty much take money from where ever they can get it (with some exceptions).  Second, McDonald's does offer lower fat choices as well, it's all in how you choose to eat when you go there.  Some of those Olympians can eat pretty much whatever they want because of their training, so I guess it's not contradictory in that sense.

  5. You are slaughtering the idea of a free country.

A coumpany sponsoring something is none of your business.

You probably eat McDonald's as does many other people. And so,

whether you'd like to admit it or not, you've been atleast once or twice.

I think you were very rude.

Not everyone who goes to McDonalds is obese. Their food is not all trash, considering I'm sure you eat it too.

Just  because you eat at McDonalds does not mean you have heart disease. There are healthy choices. And because the owners are rich, that means they are greedy? I think not.

You should rethink this question. I think you are very wrong.

  6. i know, i completely agree, its so ironic that macdonalds is even related to the olympics, all publicity i guess

  7. ya u r right

  8. Yes but funny.

That's the way of capitalism though.  We can make money off of anything.

  9. They are both symbols of how authority blinds us from national problems and everyday cares with bright lights and spectacle. They belong together.

  10. Yeah, you are right! Something like Subway should be sponsoring the Olympics not McDonalds.

Then they have commercials with athletes eating a burger or something like that. Very odd.
