Olympics and Paralympics scarves available for sale by the BOA
The British Olympic Association has started the sale of a scarf that is specifically designed for the upcoming London 2012 Olympic Games.
The scarf has been made available to the public in an effort to create homogeneity amongst the spectators and also because it can become one of the signatures of the Olympic Games once they start on July 27.
However, there is not only one scarf that has been designed, as two sorts of pattern will be available on it. The two different scarves are meant to represent the Olympic Games as well as the Paralympics Games respectively.
The scarves made available by the BOA come in two different sizes and are being sold at economical process. The smaller sized scarf is available at a cost of £5 while the bigger one costs £10.
Andy Hunt, who is the chief executive of the BOA, commented on the matter of the scarf in the following manner, “We would love it to be a massive success. Here is an item you can take to show you have gone out and supported the team. Imagine being in the
velodrome the other night if all the people there had a single item like this to wave.”
Despite the fact that the scarves feature two different designs, their basic theme is the same. The background pattern of the scarves consists of thousands of tiny icons. These icons represent each of the different sporting event that the Olympics as well
as the Paralympic Games will feature.
Not only that, the mini icons also contain imagery of the key aspects that from a part of the British everyday life. The scarves also feature 900 figures of athletes that have been added to represent the total number of athletes that form the British Olympic
as well as the Paralympics teams.
The mini icons that form the background of both the Olympic as well as the Paralympics scarves are all in black but the central image of the scarf is displayed in colours of the BOA. The central image consists of the logo of the Paralympics GB in red and
blue.
