  1. No, the TV is not on all day and no, I am not boycotting it either. despite all the commercialisation. With all its imperfections, the Olympics is still a platform for bringing the greatest possible number of nations together to compete in a fantastic array of games/sports.

I am looking forward to the basketball, gymnasts and the ribbon thing :) And also the synchronised swimming events.

The opening ceremony was moving and spectacular. There will be comments and comments on this and that. However, the discerning will realise the Olympics has evolved in many ways like the English Language - with elements from its orign that gives its source pride, yet transformed by the era and the flavour of the host country in which the Games is held.

Much like how the English must feel vindicated pride that their language is now a lingua franca. However, we know and they accept that the English in use  today varies in accent, diction and flavour from place to place. Just because a non-native speaker of English speaks an English different from that heard in the UK (and how many different accents there are there itself!) doesn't necessarily make his English any poorer in quality and eloquence (all things being equal). It is just different in accent and enriched with the thought patterns from his cultural origins.

Likewise the Olympics - something old, something new, better and better each time...towards one world, one dream.

  2. I dont watch this kind of thing so its not a boycott. That would mean avoiding something I want.

  3. I'm watching it

  4. Nah, I've been watching back to back Law & Order on Hallmark - the other half had it on all night though because the baby berry wouldn't sleep.

  5. The olympics are pretty boring for me.  I'd boycott them no matter where they were held.  They need new events.  Dump stupid sports like Tae Kwon Do and add better events like Mixed Martial Arts.  We could see Russian Sambo fighters against Brazillian Jiu Jitsu guys and Muay Thai fighters.  It would be more entertaining.

  6. Decided a long time ago to boycott by not watching it.If i remember corrrectly, that in the 1970'2 when the cold war was on between the u.s. and russia,we didnt send our druggie athlete's to russia,i guess america has "come out" and is officially a commie nation.I HATE chine for her human right's abuses and what's worse for murdering my brother's and sister's in Christ for having church services underground! God curse china and america!

  7. im boycotting

i refuse to be a hypocrite in this game

    free tibet
