Olympics opening ceremony unveiled – London Olympics 2012
The details of the opening ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games have recently been revealed.
The idea behind the main theme of the event is that of Danny Boyle, who is the artistic director of the ceremony and best known for his success of the Slumdog Millionaire as well as Trainspotting.
The start of the ceremony will take place with the ringing of the bell that is claimed to be the biggest one present in Europe. The bell has inscribed on it the words from one of the famous plays of William Shakespeare, The Tempest. The line that has been
chosen to adorn the Olympic bell that is going to make the first sound of the upcoming London 2012 Olympic Games is, “Be not afeard, the isle is full of noises.”
The bell that is being used for the Olympic Games weighs a total of 27 tonnes which makes it heavier from the Big Ben. It has been planned that the bell would stay in place at the Olympic Park even after the Olympic Games reach its close.
After the ringing of the bell, the opening ceremony of the Games will entertain both its live spectators and those watching the event on televisions by a tribute made to the NHS. In order to make the tribute more special, the performance will be put up by
several hundred nurses.
Boyle commented on the proceedings of the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in the following manner, “We are trying to capture a sense of humour. With the NHS we got an idea and then tried to make sense of it. Why not nurses and children and connect
the two together? I daren't say anymore because I’ve been told not to. I'd be very honoured if we were compared to Sydney and became a People's Games.”
One of the elements revealed about the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games is the fact that they will be costing the LOCOG one third of the total budget that has been allocated to the ceremonies of the Olympic Games that will start from July 27.
