Olympics security fails to detect fake bomb – London Olympics 2012
It has recently been revealed that a fake bomb was able to cut through the security present for the London 2012 Olympic Games and reach the main Olympic site.
The fake bomb was brought to the Olympic site by the police and the security present to detect and stop it failed to discover its presence. This indicates that the security that has been assigned for the Olympic Games is not up to the mark and the matter
has worried quite a lot of people concerned with the Olympic Games.
The fake bomb was tested to pass through the security that was prevalent at the East London Olympic venue in Stratford. According to what has been revealed, the fake bomb was able to pass through the security on one occasion at the very least.
A spokesman from the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) made the following comments on the matter, “Testing is standard practice in all major security operations. Such tests have a key role in developing our capability to ensure that London 2012 is safe and
secure and that we are best prepared to detect potential threats before and during the Games. Members of the public with tickets should be reassured that such exercises are being staged to ensure their safety, our number one priority.”
It has been rumoured that in order to upgrade the security at the Olympic Games, all of the dogs of the armies will most likely be called in from Afghanistan to London. The watchdogs play an important role in detecting out bombs as their sense of smell is
a very handy tool and they are very efficient.
According to one of the security official of the Olympic Games, there are a total of 30 watchdogs available to them for the Olympic Games. The optimum time during which a watchdog can perform is about 30 to 40 minutes after which they do not perform at their
most efficient levels. Therefore, the number of security dogs present need to be increased.
The Olympic Games are scheduled to start from the July 27 and will continue until August 12.
