  1. Because to be in the Olympics, you have to be the best and the men that play in the nba are the best.  That's why we are beating the other teams now. ; )

  2. The rules vary by sport.  There are professional tennis, volleyball, ice hockey, swimmers, track and other athletes in the Olympics. There are professional baseball players in the Olympics, but they are minor league players.  Major League Baseball players are under contract to play MLB right now so they can't play in the Olympics. Some people want MLB to take a break during the Olympics to allow it's players to compete.  Teams would be worried their star players might get injured.

  3. Because they're the best in the nation and have the greatest chance of bringing home a gold medal.

  4. Why not?  It's their offseason anyway so its not like its taking away from there professional careers.

It's kinda surprising that no pro baseball players are in the olympics for the usa. You would think at least one star would go out for the olympic team and represent their country.

  5. in 1989 FIBA allowed professionals to compete
