Seven-time Ligue 1 champions Olympique Lyonnais have admitted defeat in their pursuit of Uruguayan defender Miguel Britos.
Britos is currently under contract at Italian Serie A side Bologna and had been linked with a move to Stade Gerland for several weeks. However, reports in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 now indicate that the 25-year-old central defender is not willing to leave Italy.
Though the defender is looking to make a move away from Bologna, Britos doesn’t want to leave http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Italy-c2926.
The Uruguayan has been under the radar of Napoli as well and it seems that the Naples-based club are getting closer to signing the highly-rated defender who is yet to be capped by the Uruguayan national side.
While talking to the media, Les Gones’ sporting director, Bernard Lacombe admitted that Miguel Britos might not be willing to join the Ligue 1 giants.
“I fear that we have lost our chance to buy Miguel Britos. He is a player that we liked but the amount requested was too high for us, especially since we could not sell http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sporting-89-c40576 Director.
Lacombe further revealed that Britos’ agent told Lyonnais direction that the player would join http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003 instead if an offer is made to Bologna.
The recent new about Britos is quite a blow to Lyonnais who had made signing the South American their top priority this summer. Les Gones are looking to strengthen the squad’s defence that was shaky throughout the 2010/2011 Ligue 1 campaign.
The Rhone giants have also been linked with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Patrick-c29254 Le Lay.
Lyon have also been linked with a move for 23-year-old Brazilian defender http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vasco-da-Gama-c40872.
With so much improvement required in Lyon’s defence, it seems that recently-appointed Lyon coach Remi Garde will have his work cut out this summer as he looks to make improvements to the Lyon defence.
Furthermore, with young defender http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Defence-c38904 that has been criticised for losing its concentration regularly.
