Stade de Gerland, Lyon saw seven-time Ligue 1 champions Olympique Lyonnais host Paris Saint-Germain in a Ligue 1 encounter that was one of the most anticipated games of this weekend. As promised, the game turned out to be an entertaining encounter.
However, words can certainly not describe the outcome of the game. No one would have expected the game to be such a close encounter that kept everyone on their feet.
Ahead of the game, PSG were yet to lose under Carlo Ancelotti. However, a win was important for the noveau riche of French football as Montpellier Herault won their game against Bordeaux 1-0 to go on top of the Ligue 1 standings.
Chasing a first Ligue 1 title since 1994, PSG were in for a tough time at the Rhone.
In a wide open game, there were a lot of chances for both sides. However, it was the visitors who opened scoring who side-footed the ball past Lyon goalkeeper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jeremy-Menez-c18345 free-kick in the 21st minute.
At that stage, Lyon must have feared yet another Ligue 1 defeat which surely would have ended their hopes of playing in the Champions League next season.

The result now means that Montpellier lead the Ligue 1 standings by a point while Lyon are provisionally in fifth place.
