Last summer, seven-time Ligue 1 giants, Olympique Lyonnais coach Remi Garde desperately tried signing Hamdan Al Kamali from UAE giants Al Wahda. However, a move could not happen as the Middle-Eastern club was unwilling to sell their team’s mainstay.
Things have now taken a new direction as it now appears that the side from UAE is willing to let their star go. The youngster was first identified by Lyon scout Florian Maurice and now, Les Gones are in a great position of signing the 22-year-old centre-back.
Al-Wahda coach had also confirmed that Kamali’s agent has already entered discussions with OL and the player himself indicated his desire to join the European side.
However, Al Kamali has said that the move will not happen immediately as the player himself needs to finalise a few things.
“We are in discussion but no agreement has been reached yet. Everything about the negotiations or commitment will be made after the match,” said the young defender who wants to fully concentrate on Al-Wahda’s much-anticipated clash with UAE giants Al Jazeera.
The game is considered to be the biggest game of the calendar year and the youngster wants to help his side beat their traditional rivals before securing a dream move to European football.
The delay is certainly not worrying Olympique Lyonnais at all especially after the president of Al-Wahda said that the club is open to their player’s transfer.
“There is no problem to sell the player if he takes advantage of sporting his transfer to Europe,” said Al-Wahda chairman Sheikh Saeed Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hamdan-Al-Kamali-c15615 is considered as one of the hottest young talents in Asian football at the moment. In 2010, the youngster was named in Spanish football magazine, Don Balon’s list of the best 100 young players in the world.
A move to Lyon would certainly help Kamali a lot in terms of his development. Already, the 22-year-old has become an integral part of the UAE national squad.
