Unlike the rest of the big three clubs in the French Ligue 1, Olympique Lyonnais made a perfect start to the 2011/2012 Ligue 1 campaign by defeating OGC Nice 3-2 this Saturday.
Coach Remi Garde was satisfied by his team’s performance but still feels that the team needs one or two new players in order to overcome an extremely tough schedule for the Rhone club in which they will be playing in four competitions that include UEFA Champions
League.
After making such a positive start to the new season, many can say that Remi Garde has made a better start than his predecessor Claude Puel who had the financial backing of president Jean-Michel Aulas. With the club low on funds, Remi Garde knows that he
cannot enjoy the luxury of spending big in order to bring in good players to the Rhone outfit.
However, the 45-year-old French tactician believes that bringing in one or two players to the Stade Gerland won’t be superfluous. While talking to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899’s sports daily, L’Equipe, Garde said that although he is satisfied with what he has currently, he is
still looking to bring a few players to strengthen some of the positions in the squad.
The departure of France international Jeremy Toulalan to La Liga side Malaga has definitely left a big gap in the club’s midfield and Garde is desperate to sign a defensive midfielder before the summer transfer window closes.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/AJ-Auxerre-c38247 youngster Delvin N’Dinga has been linked with a move to Les Gones since the appointment of Garde as the club’s new coach but Auxerre’s reluctance in letting go of the Congolese means that Lyon have to be patient in order to make their first signing
of the transfer window.
Reports suggest that AJA want at least 8 million euros for the services of the 23-year-old while Lyon are not willing to spend more than six million euros for the player. However, Aulas is now prepared to come up with a new option for AJA president http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gerard-c14664
Bourgoin in order to sign the player.
Aulas is willing to provide Auxerre 40% of the future resale of N’Dinga. If the move does not materialise even then, Lyon will turn their attentions towards Samba Diakite of Nancy Lorraine.
With their UEFA Champions League qualification campaign on the horizon, Garde is desperate to add at least one new player to the squad before his side travels to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Russia-c2991 to face Rubin Kazan in the first leg of the qualification round for the group stages
of the Champions League.
