With years catching up to Brazilian central defender http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Cris-c9486 and the return of Pape Diakhate to parent club Dynamo Kyiv, Croatian international Dejan Lovren has become the pillar of the Lyonnais rearguard.
At the age of 22, the Croatian is growing steadily and has proven that Les Gones’ decision to invest eight million Euros on him was a good bargain by the Rhone club. However, the club’s recent financial complications are forcing the Ligue 1 giants into selling
players in order to raise funds for the arrival of new faces at the Stade Gerland.
Names such as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Dejan-Lovren-c10779 might be one of those players who would be let go of this summer.
However, it now appears that Dejan Lovren is still willing to extend his stay with the Rhone giants even though the Croat has been linked with an exit. N. Vuksan, agent of the former Dinamo Zagreb man said that the player is still not 100% sure about his
future at the club but is still willing to stay.
English Premier League side http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 FC and German Bundesliga side Bayern Munich are reportedly interested in the services of the young defender who was one of the most consistent defenders for Lyon in the 2010/2011 Ligue 1 season.
While talking to reporters, N. Vuksan said, “I know Bayern Munich and Liverpool are interested. Dejan is still under contract at Lyon and if an offer is received we will sit down around a table with the Lyon direction. This is very normal and Lyon and Dejan
are happy with eachother.”
Olympique Lyonnais are already short of good defenders and losing a key defender like Dejan Lovren does not send out a good signal to the club’s fans. Even though the club has decided to minimise its ambitions for the 2011/2012 Ligue 1 season, selling a
good defender like Lovren could prove costly for a club that is still searching for a means to get back to the top of French football.
