Olympique Lyonnais go top after Bafetimbi Gomis brace – Ligue 1 news
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michel-Bastos-c25461 also scored a goal in Lyon’s 3-1 win.
18 months back, the two sides met eachother in the quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League. However, things have changed drastically for the two since then. While Bordeaux have found it hard to stamp their authority in France, Olympique Lyonnais seem
to be rejuvenated with the appointment of Remi Garde as the club’s new coach.
In midweek, Les Gones were inflicted their first defeat of the Ligue 1 campaign when they lost to Caen away from home. Remi Garde made five changes to the team that lost 1-0. Young goalkeeper Remy Vercoutre kept the goal in place of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hugo-Lloris-c16408 who saw red
in the last game. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alexandre-Lacazette-c4895 and Clement Grenier were also handed starts.
Bordeaux welcomed the return of Cedric Carrasso but it was not enough as Bafetimbi Gomis opened scoring for the home side after just eight minutes into the first half. A breathtaking piece of skill from Bastos saw the Brazilian juggle the ball over the head
of Abdou Traoré before he whipped in a delightful cross to Gomis who easily converted the ball in the goal.
Les Gones had not lost a home game since the defeat to Saint-Etienne last year meant that the task was bound to be tough for Bordeaux. A shot from outside the box by Bastos nearly made it 2-0 but Carrasso was there to parry the ball away for a corner.
Bordeaux did enjoy a great spell but were undone yet again in the 30th minute. Young academy player Clement Grenier did well to find his way into the Bordeaux box. However, the 20-year-old’s pass to Kallstrom was deflected from Ludovic Sane into
the path of Gomis who did not hesitate in slotting the ball past Carrasso to score his sixth of the season.
At half time, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mathieu-Chalmé-c24680  miscalculated pass made things even more difficult for Bordeaux
as Bastos scored the third goal for Les Gones.
However, the Brazilian was forced to be taken off after he showed signs of a minor injury. Les Gones boss Garde would be hopeful that the groin injury is not too serious. A late goal by Modeste was only to be a consolation as Lyon ran out 3-1 winners.
Les Gones next face Dinamo Zagreb in a UEFA Champions League group game before they host Paris Saint-Germain at Parc des Princes next week.
