Lorenzo Melgarejo who is currently on loan at Pacos Ferreira for the remained of the 2011/2012 campaign
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ferreira-c13712 where he is developing
into a good player.
In his first full season, the youngster has bagged eight goals in 21 games. Though his goal tally is modest, at the age of 21, Melgarejo has certainly shown signs of having a bright future ahead of him.
On Sunday, the youngster once again proved of his undoubted talent by netting a goal against Encarnados.
Portuguese sports daily, O Jogo, claims that Olympique Lyonnais are really impressed with the young striker’s development and are continuing to monitor his development. The native of Loma Grande is also attracting a lot of interest from German Bundesliga
side Werder Bremen and Spanish sides who have already contacted the striker’s agents.
However, Melgarejo himself is trying to stay calm amidst so much speculation. The youngster says that he would prefer to wait until the end of the season before making any decision.
“I was contacted, but I’ll wait until the end of the season to assess the situation.”
If he carries on playing the way he has done so far this season, Benfica could seriously consider using him next season with an improved contract. Melgarejo’s current deal expires in June 2016 and his release clause is set at 20 million Euros.
Les Gones coach, Remi Garde, is apparently keen on signing the youngster but knows that the club’s financial situation would become a major stumbling block in bringing the gifted South American to Stade de Gerland.
Though the likes of Bafetimbi Gomis and Lisandro Lopez have done well for the club, Garde wants to have a new and young striker at the club. However, it appears that Lyon might not be able to sign Melgarejo as Benfica would be desperate to hold on to the
21-year-old.
