The Ligue 1 giants are set to embark on a new journey without the presence of Brazilian defender http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Cris-c9486 who will play for Galatasaray this season
Upon his departure to Turkish Super Lig side Galatasaray, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Brazil-c2858 international, Cris expressed his sadness at leaving a side where he spent almost eight years. During his 8-year sojourn at the Rhone club, Cris won the Championelle more times than he can
care to remember.  There were some great moments in “Police’s” illustrious career at Stade de Gerland.
Unluckily, Cris was never going to be a part of Remi Garde’s plans for the future so he had to be sacrificed.
“A page turns, another begins. This is a new episode in my life. I’m happy, but also sad. I leave the club where I spent eight years, where I lived for beautiful things, a club and supporters that I will keep in my heart. I will never forget what they did
when my daughter was born. It is hard to tell, it doesn’t feel right to leave the club, the city, but this is football. I wanted to finish my career at OL. But this proposal is interesting for me, for the club.”
The likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Kim-c20955 Kallstrom also left the seven-time Ligue 1 champions this summer for Tottenham Hotspur and Spartak Moscow respectively. An end of a cycle has come which saw Lyon win seven Ligue 1 Championelle and were perhaps the most successful
sides Ligue 1 had ever seen.
There are still a few “dinosaurs” is Vercoutre and Reveillere at the club as a vestige of the good old days. However, Les Gones have seen serious facelift.
One can never forget the time when the club spent almost 70 million euros in one summer transfer market – a feat that even PSG would have been proud of.
Now, the dynamics of Lyon’s transfer market activity have changed. Knowing that the club can’t spend much on star players, Garde will have to make do with young gems and cut-price deals which though risky, will make sure that the club stays debt free.
