Earlier rumoured to be on the verge of securing a move to Olympique Lyonnais, UAE International Hamdan Al Kamali might no more be part of the plans of Les Gones. However, the youngster’s club Al-Wahda claim that the player could still move to Lyon
Earlier reports in French and Middle-Eastern media claimed that Al-Wahda defender, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-Lyonnais-c40130 this January.
However, it now appears that the young defender has very little chance of joining Remi Garde’s side. While the 22-year-old centre-back has revealed discussions with the club’s representatives over a move to Stade de Gerland, the stance of Lyon president
Jean-Michel Aulas seems to have weakened.
However, it seems that Kamali’s current club, Al-Wahda representatives are still optimistic about the player’s chances of moving to Lyon.
Asked by daily “National”, deputy director of the Middle Eastern club said that the move could still be on the offing.
“The transfer is not completely dead, but we have no agreement or important discussions. Lyon sent us a letter to explain their intentions to sign (Al Kamali), but there has been no concrete offer. We have asked them for one but have not received an answer,
so for us, that interest is not as serious as that. We don’t have anything to discuss about now which means that Hamdan is not leaving,” said the representative.
The assertion made by the Al-Wahda official is certainly surprising as Lyon have been slow to say the least in their dealings with the club. Remi Garde was keen on signing the player last summer but a move never materialised.
However, the club showed keenness on signing Kamali again this January but did not disclose anything else.
Al Kamali, at the age of 22, is certainly a great prospect for the club and also outlines Aulas’ policy of signing young talent. Kamali is also keen on making a big move to European football and Lyon is certainly the best landing zone for a youngster who
is considered as one of the hottest young prospects in Asian football at the moment.
