Replacing luxury at Ligue 1 side Olympique Lyonnais, Yoann Gourcuff is constantly linked with a move away from the Stade de Gerland. However, the midfielder’s agent, Jean-Pierre Bernes has now ended all speculation over the former AC Milan man’s
future
Signed from FC Girondins de Bordeaux in the summer of 2010, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Yoann-Gourcuff-c37416 is still far from the midfielder who played such a pivotal role in Bordeaux’s last ever Ligue 1 title. At Stade de Gerland, the 25-year-old has become a luxury,
coach Remi Garde can’t afford to take.
This season, the early campaign was besieged with injuries and since then, Les Gones have seen only flashes of brilliance from the former Bordeaux man who promised so much but so far, has delivered little.
Remi Garde does not hesitate to leave him on the bench and there are times, the midfielder can’t even make it to a cameo appearance. Quite a problem for a player who signed for almost 22 million Euros and is paid around 400,000 Euros a month.
Since then, the midfielder has been linked with a move away from the club and reports claim that the Frenchman is still under the radar of English Premier League side Arsenal FC. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 manager, Arsene Wenger is a keen admirer of the France international
and could make a move for him this summer.
Reports also claim that Gourcuff is attracting interest from Russian Premier League side Zenit Saint Petersburg. However, a move away from the Rhone giants seems unlikely especially after his agent, Jean-Pierre Bernes ruled out a move.
While talking to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 Football, Bernes set the record straight and simply ruled out a move away from the club anytime soon.
“Gourcuff has no reason to leave OL. With Gourcuff, it was discussed and it would be absurd to leave. I’m willing to take this step but I must be deeply convinced of his interest. And this is not the case. It is a good club, he was injured, he needs time.
I do not see how that player cannot win (his place) in Lyon. I do not see the point of finding another club with three to four months left in Euro. He will play for Lyon.”
