While talking to Le Progress, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-Lyonnais-c40130 striker Bafetimbi Gomis spoke about his expectations for 2012 and also sealed his future at the Rhone giants amid speculation that the striker wanted to leave Stade de Gerland
With seven goals in 19 Ligue 1 appearances, France international Bafetimbi Gomis has slowly started realising his true potential at Olympique Lyonnais.
A lengthy lay-off due to injury for Lisandro Lopez put a lot of burden on the 26-year-old. However, Gomis did well to take the burden of the side. After failing to settle at the club following his move from AS Saint-Etienne, Gomis is now becoming an integral
part of Remi Garde’s starting XI.
While talking to Le Progress, Gomis said that the winter break came at the right time for him and added that after a good rest, he is ready to have a good 2012 on a personal note and for the club as well.
“I have made progress efficiently. I want to continue this way. At 26, I am mature and my best seasons are yet to come. In terms of goals, I hope to do much better than the first half of the season. I’m just a player and need to fulfil my personal and collective
goals.”
Earlier reports in media suggested that the striker was under the radar of Turkish giants Fenerbahce. However, Gomis ruled out a move away from the club and highlighted his desire of extending his stay with Les Gones.
“I’m very happy to be here (Lyon). I have a contract until 2014. Well you never know in football, and we have seen with Antoine Kombouare. But I am not under discussion, we’ll see when the time comes to negotiate,” said Gomis while talking about his future.
The second half of the Ligue 1 campaign is going to be a crucial one for both Gomis and his club. Currently, Lyon are in fourth place in the Ligue 1 standings. Furthermore, with the European Championships coming up, Gomis needs to put in an extra shift in
