Olympique Lyonnais to let go of Ederson next summer – Ligue 1 report
Reports in French media suggest that Brazilian midfielder Ederson is one the verge of leaving http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-Lyonnais-c40130 after negotiations over a new contract with the Ligue 1 giants failed.
After renewing the contracts of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michel-Bastos-c25461, Les Gones direction was looking to offer Ederson a new contract as well despite the midfielder’s much-publicised injury woes.
Negotiations over a new contract had already started several weeks ago and Ederson had spoken about his desire to be regain his status of a regular starter in the first-team.
The Brazilian justified the breaking down of talks by saying, “We’ve already had two or three meetings with the leaders. But I’d rather be honest and expect to have found my level to discuss.”
The Brazilian is still not certain about his chances of getting regular game time under Remi Garde.
Advisor to club president Bernard Lacombe took a different view of the negotiations between the club officials and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ederson-c11880.
“It is true that we have made efforts to satisfy the financial needs and we have failed so far to reach an agreement. However, it is in our interest to get him (Ederson) to full fitness to help the team until the end of the season,” Lacombe said thus confirming
that the club would not suffer a lot if the Brazilian did not agree to the terms.
Ederson missed most of the 2010/2011 campaign due to injury and has only recently returned to first-team action. The end of the season would see the end of Ederson’s contract but Lyon are most likely to put the Brazilian on the transfer list for this winter
as the club would be willing to recuperate some part of the 15 million Euros they paid for him when the player joined the Rhone giants from Nice in the summer of 2008.
However, the departure of the Brazilian international won’t cause much of a worry to Remi Garde’s plans as the French tactician seems to primarily rely on the attacking abilities of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Yoann-Gourcuff-c37416 and young academy product Clement Grenier who has made quick
progress under the tutelage of Remi Garde.
