Olympique Lyonnais president Jean-Michel Aulas has indicated that the Rhone giants would be able to recoup approximately 15 million Euros by June 2012 in a bid to meet the club’s sporting and financial ambitions.
The year 2012 certainly promises to be an exciting one for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-Lyonnais-c40130’ president Jean-Michel Aulas. The Frenchman recently introduced a new austerity plan at the club which aims to ease the burden on the club’s finances. The process involves the
club selling at least one big-name player in the upcoming winter transfer window in a bid to reduce the pay-roll at the club.
The Lyon supremo has already ruled out making any new signings this winter. Aulas now says that the club is expecting to record revenue of 15 million Euros by June 2012 which would certainly make a good reading for the balance sheets that have suffered in
the last couple of fiscal years.
However, recouping 15 million Euros by June 2012 would definitely be a tough task for the Lyon management. The construction of the new stadium, Stade Lumieres is already under way. The new stadium represents significant investment. Then, there’s the case
of the club’s payroll which is among the highest payrolls in French Ligue 1.
In order to address this situation, Jean-Michel Aulas will have to walk a tightrope. Initially, Aulas embarked on a large-scale contract extension mission.
In the beginning of the 2011/2012 campaign, the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ederson-c11880 and
Bafetimbi Gomis might follow suit.
This is certainly a clever manoeuvre as it adds more value to the Lyon squad and at the same time increases the players’ market value.
However, players who have signed new leases would certainly not be expected to leave Stade Gerland any time soon. Remi Garde wants to continue with most of the players at his disposal despite the obvious shortcomings in the group.
However, the impending departure of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Aly-Cissokho-c5313 could ease the club’s financial burden and would ensure Aulas of meeting his target of recouping 15 million Euros after the end of the current campaign.
