Olympique Marseille boss Didier Deschamps believes his side can still win the Ligue 1 title
Olympique Marseille manager, Didier Deschamps, believes his side can still win the French Ligue 1 title despite the 3-2 loss to rivals Olympique Lyon on Sunday, May 8. He admitted that the defeat has put http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lille-OSC-c39800 in a strong position but stated that there
are still four games to play in the season and anything can happen.
Les Gones defeated Deschamps' side at Stade Gerland in Lyon with a late goal from defender http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Cris-c9486, earning three precious points. The match had its share of controversy as an 11th minute Loic Remy goal was denied by the referee after adjudging Andre
Ayew of a hand ball. The television replays, however, showed that it was a poor decision and the visitors were denied the lead in the opening minutes of the game.
Deschamps rued missed opportunities and admitted that the team has been in poor form recently. He stated that one point in two games is not enough and that his side has made things difficult after a brilliant season.
“We've just taken one point from two matches, and that doesn't make things any easier for us,” the former Juventus manager was quoted as saying in an interview.
The Frenchman insisted that anything is possible till the end of the season as there are four games till to play for. He urged his side to step up and take their chances. The manager said that the team still has belief and hoped to end the season with the
trophy in his hands.
“There are still 12 points to play for, so it is still possible. But it is tougher than it was a week ago. I still believe in our chances and, as long as it is possible, we will give it a real go,” the former French international concluded.
Didier Deschamps led Marseille to their first League title in 18 years last season. He recently signed a contract extension with the French giants and chose to stay despite interest from Juventus after the Italians had a dismal season last year.
