Eric Gerets is visibly saddened by the current situation at Olympique de Marseille who have not won in their last 11 games

After parting company with Olympique de Marseille due to various reasons, Eric Gerets was replaced by Didier Deschamps who was let go of by Juventus after guiding them back to the Serie A following a season in Serie B due to the Calciopoli scandal.
Since Gerets’ departure, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-de-Marseille-c40127 fared decently enough and even won the Championelle a few years back. The former AC Milan player, despite having a lot of grievances with the OM management, maintains a good reputation among the club’s fans
who feel that now is the right time for the Belgian to return to Marseille.
As things stand, Olympique de Marseille are in 9th place in the Ligue 1 standings and will not play in the UEFA Champions League – which is certainly not a normal thing for a club of such stature.
Seeing his former club’s current situation is hard to digest for the former Marseille coach. Gerets says that the situation makes him said because he had a great time as coach of Marseille despite not winning anything.
“I’m more than sad. I had my best days as a coach even if I did not win anything with this team. I hope they win the Coupe de la Ligue. That way, they would save their season,” said the Belgian while talking to Eurosport.
While talking about Jose Anigo, Gerets said that he never had a bad relationship with the sporting director.
“I had a good relationship with everyone. I had a president who was sensational and gave me a carte blanche. With Jose Anigo, I never had the slightest concern or worry. With the players in was spotless. With the public too. For me one thing to regret is
that I never managed to win the Championnat.”
Certainly, Marseille faithful adore the Belgian who always maintained a good relationship with everyone involved with the club.
Rumours claim that Deschamps might leave Stade Velodrome when the season ends. Search for a new coach may be just around the corner and Eric Gerets might be one of the candidates.
