Olympique de Lyonnais looking to hire Claudio Ranieri – French Ligue 1 news
After three years without winning any silverware and a trophy-less 2010/11 campaign, the reign of Claude Puel as the coach of Olympique de Lyonnais is likely to come to its conclusion. Booed and threatened by the Lyon fans, Claude Puel might be forced to
leave the club in the upcoming weeks. On Wednesday, it was rumoured that Les Gones had identified Auxerre coach Jean Fernandez as a possible replacement for Puel.
However, reports indicate that Lyon president, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jean-c18112-Michel Aulas, is looking for a far more prestigious coach with more experience, a search that could lead him straight to former AS Roma coach Claudio Ranieri. Speculations earlier suggested that assistant
coach, Rémi Garde, might be promoted to position of the head coach, but Garde seems unwilling to become the head coach. A few months earlier, Marcello Lippi was touted to be the next Lyon coach it seems that Jean-Michel Aulas has identified Claudio Ranieri
as the successor to Claude Puel at Lyon. The 59-year-old Italian has wealth of experience on his hands as he has managed the likes of Juventus, AS http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786. Furthermore, Ranieri has also had stints at Spanish La Liga
outfits, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Valencia-c40863 and Atletico Madrid.
Although it has been suggested that Claudio Ranieri is more inclined on moving to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749, a proposal to work for Lyon might make the Italian reconsider his options. With just one game left in the 2010/2011 French Ligue 1 season, Lyon are set to finish third
in the league standings which means that they will have to qualify for next season’s UEFA Champions League via a preliminary round. Qualification for Champions League might give Ranieri an extra motivational factor for joining a side that has seen a barren
spell since lifting the Ligue 1 title in the 2007/08 season.
With Claude Puel looking set to leave the club in the upcoming summer transfer window, the possibility of Claudio Ranieri joining Les Gones looks more and more likely. Though it still remains to be seen whether Ranieri would join the Rhone giants or not,
it could be a good match as Ranieri has been known to revive clubs in his first season but has never finished the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684.
