French media has reported that Ligue 1 giants Olympique de Marseille and Girondins de Bordeaux are nearing an agreement for the transfer of France international Alou Diarra to the Stade Velodrome.
Alou Diarra has been heavily linked with a move away from the Stade Chaban Delmas since the transfer window opened up but negotiations have moved slowly. Bordeaux president, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jean-c18112 Louis Triaud has now admitted that the player is nearing an exit from the club.
Olympique de Marseille have already announced on their official website that the club has finally reached an agreement in principle between the three parties; the club itself, Alou Diarra and Bordeaux.
“Olympique de Marseille, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alou-Diarra-c5259 and Bordeaux have reached an agreement in principle to the transfer of midfielder of France national team from Bordeaux to Marseille,” read the statement. The statement also said that the remaining details of the deal would be concluded within the next 48 hours.
Reports in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 suggest that the transfer amount for Diarra should be between 3 million to 4.5 million Euros. French media reveals that Diarra has signed three-year deal with Les Phoceens and will earn about 300,000 Euros per month.
29-year-old Alou Diarra is currently considered to be one of the best defensive midfielders in Ligue 1 and has made over 34 appearances for the French national side. After unsuccessful stints in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 in 2005.
In the summer of 2006, the midfielder signed with Lyon. However, his stint at the Rhone club turned out to be an unhappy one following his fallout with the then Lyon manager http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gerard-c14664 Houllier. In the summer of 2007, Diarra joined Bordeaux on a four-year deal and helped Les Girondins to their sixth Championnat in the 2008/2009 Ligue 1 season.
Diarra has been a valuable asset for Bordeaux during his stay at the club and has made over 121 Ligue 1 appearances for the club. His departure to Marseille would surely be a big setback for the club so the club should find a replacement for the former Lyon man as quickly as possible.
