The Real Betis midfielder has exploded for the Beticos this season and his performances have alerted the Ligue 1 giants who are keen to approach him this summer
Not many people know much about Spanish midfielder Beñat Etxebarria. The 25-year-old is currently under contract at La Liga side Real Betis where he is in the form of his life and has become an integral part of the team. His performance in the Seville derby
has confirmed that Etxebarria warrants a move to a bigger club.
However, the journey has not really been easy for the player. Started as a young prospect at Athletic Bilbao, Etxebarria left the club without proving anything. At Real Betis, he started for the reserves first before making it to the senior side. And this
season, the midfielder has totally exploded for the Verdiblancos.
So much so that Athletic Bilbao are also looking to bring him back to San Mames. However, Bilbao are not the only side who want to sign him. Reports in El Diario de Sevilla claim that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-de-Marseille-c40127 and Montpellier Herault are in line to afford the
services of the Spaniard.
The technically gifted midfielder is under contract with Betis until 2014 but won’t come cheap. Reports claim that the player has a release clause estimated at 20 million euros which is too high an amount for the two Ligue 1 clubs especially for Marseille
who are in no position of splashing big money this summer.
Even if they get good money for the transfers of Olivier Giroud and Younes Belhanda, Montpellier may still struggle to bring the player to the Mosson.
However, the two clubs do have a fighting chance as the 25-year-old is keen to leave Betis.
Though Montpellier offer him Champions League football, it seems unlikely that the player would consider leaving http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011 at this stage of his career. Furthermore, after not being able to prove anything during his time at Bilbao, Etxebarria might consider returning
to the club in order to prove his credentials.
Since joining Betis in 2010, Etxebarria has played 69 games and has scored 10 goals which is quite a remarkable achievement for a player who usually operates as a defensive midfielder.
