http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Cameroon-c2865 international Stephane Mbia has said that his team Olympique de Marseille really need to win this Sunday’s Clasico against archrivals Paris Saint-Germain at the Stade Velodrome.
Les Phoceens’ chances of qualifying to the knockout phases of this season’s UEFA Champions League suffered a major blow when the Rhone giants lost at home to Greek giants Olympiakos. Furthermore, Marseille’s lowly Ligue 1 position means that the time is
certainly not right for Didier Deschamps’ team as PSG are in great position.
However, the Marseille defender Mbia has said that his side needs to shrug off all recent disappointments and win the game against Les Parisiens.
Recently back in the Marseille side after missing a lot of games when he injured his foot in Week 2 of the Championelle, the Cameroonian has said that he is not going to enter the field with any negative mentality on Sunday.
While talking to OMTV, the 25-year-old admitted that things have become complicated for his side in the Champions League after a 1-0 defeat at home to the Greek side. However, Mbia said that he is not concerned about what happened in the Champions League
and has asked his teammates to go out for a win against a side that is leading the Ligue 1 table right now.
Mbia said that defeat in the game against PSG was unthinkable and is focusing his attention to the match ahead rather than sulking on what happened in the past.
"Defeat to Paris in the Clasico on our own turf is unthinkable. If you take a good look at the statistics, you'll see that Marseille wins more often than other clubs after a European fixture," Mbia said while giving a statistical take on his view of the
game.
The game against PSG is one of the most important games of the Ligue 1 calendar and this time, things are bound to heat up after what happened last season. Former Marseille left-back (now AC Milan), sang anti-PSG songs with the Marseille faithful after his
side beat Montpellier in the Coupe de La Ligue final at the Stade de http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 back in April.
