Olympique de Marseille keen on holding on to Lucho Gonzalez and Benoit Cheyrou – Ligue 1 news
Reports in French media suggest that French Ligue 1 giants http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-de-Marseille-c40127 are keen on holding on to star duo Lucho Gonzalez and Benoit Cheyrou and are no more looking to sell the experienced midfielders.
Jose Anigo and Didier Deschamps are likely to experience turbulent last few days of the summer transfer window. The two men who are an integral part of the Marseille direction know that they still need to fend off interest in Cheyrou and Gonzalez.
At the start of the summer transfer window, Lucho Gonzalez was tipped for a move away from the Stade Velodrome. The Argentine international was also keen on moving onto a new challenge in his career. However, after Marseille’s initial insistence of not lowering
their demands for the former Porto man, Lucho Gonzalez is still a Marseille player.
The 30-year-old midfielder was attracting interest from the likes of Malaga, AS http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Porto-c39186 in the summer of
2009 for 18 million Euros.
Furthermore, after making a bright start to the new campaign, Marseille direction is keen on holding on to El Comandante and is no more in the mood to listen to offers for the midfielder.
Arsenal were keen on the midfielder but were only willing to bring him on loan at the Emirates. Marseille rejected http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429’s proposal so Arsenal came back with a cheque of three million Euros which was plainly refused by the Rhone club.
Les Phoceens are now looking to keep hold of Lucho Gonzalez along with Benoit Cheyrou who is reportedly attracting interest from Spanish La Liga side Seville and Russian Premier League side Rubin Kazan.
Rubin Kazan have already approached Marseille for Cheyrou with a cheque of two million Euros and are ready to offer the Frenchman a lucrative contract. However, Les Phoceens are not really keen on letting go of Cheyrou as Anigo and Deschamps want him to
stay and would rather let go of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Charles-c8808 Kabore who is still a Marseille man after being linked with a move away from the Rhone side all summer.
