Olympique de Marseille keeping tabs on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Lorient-c39153 midfielder Morgan Amalfitano – Ligue 1 news
Ligue 1 giants, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gonzalez-c15099 set to leave the club this June, Marseille are now
looking to bring in a replacement for the Argentine and see the young Frenchman as a perfect replacement.
Reports in the French media suggest that Marseille had been monitoring Amalfitano’s progress at the club for a long time now and are considering tabling an offer for the 26-year-old. Should Lucho Gonzalez leave Stade Velodrome, an offer for Amalfitano
can be expected by Lorient. Amalfitano has been with Lorient since 2008 and has developed into one of the finest players in Ligue 1. In the 2010/11 season, the Frenchman has scored five goals and has provided 11 assists in 37 Ligue 1 appearances. Furthermore,
Amalfitano’s contract at the club is set to expire this summer which means that he will be available on a free transfer when the season ends.
However, Marseille could face stiff competition from the likes of Arsenal, Aston Villa and La Liga side FC Seville, who are all also interested in the midfielder’s services. Along with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 International Kevin Gamiero, Amalfitano has been one of
the best players in the Lorient side that came close to qualifying for next year’s edition of UEFA Europa League.
The Nice-born midfielder started his professional career with Sedan and made 126 appearances for Les Sangliers between 2003 and 2008. His stellar performances earned him a move to Lorient in the summer of 2008 where the 26-year-old has become a valuable
asset to his side. So far, Amalfitano has made 100 appearances for Les Merlus and has scored 13 goals. Reports suggest that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has been following Amalfitano for a long time and is looking to make a bid for the player in the upcoming
transfer window. Furthermore, Amalfitano has already declined Lorient’s offer for a new contract which means that the player would definitely be leaving Les Merlus after three seasons.
If rumours linking Morgan Amalfitano to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 FC turn out to be true in the coming weeks, Olympique de Marseille would surely be hard-pressed to sign the player as the club might not be able to satisfy the player’s wage demands.
