Olympique de Marseille looking to offload Andre-http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Pierre-c29989 Gignac – Ligue 1 news
According to reports from French sports daily L’Equipe, Ligue 1 giants are looking to offload France international Andre Pierre Gignac this summer.
The 25-year-old striker arrived at the Stade Velodrome from Toulouse last summer for 18 million Euros. However, the striker failed to justify his hefty price tag and saw a rough 2010/2011 Ligue 1 season with Les Phoceens.
Marseille coach Didier Deschamps appears to have lost all his faith in the striker who he worked so hard to bring at the club last summer. Gignac scored only eight goals in 31 games for Marseille in the Ligue 1 and never really impressed the fans and the
Marseille officials.
Furthermore, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 now indicate
that the French giants are now looking to offload Gignac who is reportedly earning 300,000 Euros per month at the Rhone club.
Didier Deschamps is rumoured to be in the hunt for a new striker which is definitely not good news for Gignac. Gignac’s form and commitment has been questioned many a times and with the expected arrival of a new striker at the Stade Velodrome, it is likely
that the former Toulouse man might be pushed out of the door.
On the other hand, Andre-Pierre Gignac is adamant that he will leave the club. Jean-Christophe Cano, agent of Gignac says that the player is willing to stay at the club for a long time. While talking to the media, Cano said, “Let there be doubts (about Gignac’s
future). We accept the fact that Deschamps has a lot of responsibilities but Andre-Pierre came to Marseille to win trophies and he has no desire to leave the club.”
Though the striker is not willing to leave the club, it seems pretty clear that the club is not looking to give the striker another chance after he failed to impress in his first season at the club. Under the leadership of new president, Vincent Labrune,
Marseille have shown that they will not tolerate players who fail to justify their hefty wages with their on-field performances. Gignac could be one of those players.
