Olympique de Marseille player Hilton assaulted and robbed at home – Ligue 1 news
Ligue 1 side, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-de-Marseille-c40127 player Vitorino Hilton was attacked and robbed in his home on Tuesday night by masked assailants.
The Brazilian’s family members were also assaulted by the armed robbers who according to AFP were masked and well-informed about the location of Hilton’s house. The robbers neutralised all residents of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hilton-c16219’s house that is located in the 8em arrondissment
de Marseille before hitting the Marseille defender with rifle butts.
The 33-year-old was injured but was not hospitalised. The six men who attacked Hilton are believed to be ex-French Army commandos, locked the residents of Hilton’s house in random rooms and then stole all the cash and valuables before their escapade via
a rental car. The car that the burglars used was a Renault and was found on the South of the city.
The six assailants are already responsible for attacking several Marseille players and members of the club’s direction.
Vitorino Hilton had already lodged a complaint for theft last January. In the last two seasons, Marseille players, Andre-Pierre Gignac, Stephen M’Bia and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fabrice-Abriel-c13207 have all been robbed while former chairman Jean-Claude Dassier’s house was also robbed
last year.
Argentine international Lucho Gonzalez was also attacked in March 2010 by four masked individuals which means that there is a group of assailants who have been targeting the club’s players and officials for the past two seasons.
Jewellery, credit cards, cash and cars have been targeted by the robbers. The same scenario was experienced by the Ayew brother (Andre and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jordan-c2929) who were attacked after the final match of the 2010/2011 Ligue 1 season on May, 29, 2011.
Andre Ayew was with brother, wife, and cousin when three gunmen entered their place and attacked all members of the house several times. The thugs then ran away with cash, travel bags and two expensive wrist watches.
In the last few years, the rate of theft and assaults has increased in Marseille which is becoming a serious threat to the players who are being targeted a lot by groups. Though it is very rare for a tourist to be targeted by thieves in Marseille, the club’s
footballers are facing a security threat which should be looked at by the club’s direction and the local authorities.
