While talking to the media, Olympique de Marseille chairman Vincent Labrune revealed that the club had rejected a big-money offer for French striker Loic Remy and also gave an update on the case of Ryan http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mendes-c25206
With the departure of Lucho Gonzalez to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-de-Marseille-c40127 have finished their activity for the winter transfer window. This January, the only arrival was that of Brazilian striker Brandao who returned to the Stade Velodrome after his loan
spell was cancelled by Les Phoceens.
The transfer of Lucho Gonzalez took some time in happening but is an important one as the Argentine’s departure has allowed OM to reduce their payroll.
However, there were some happening in the transfer window that many Marseille faithful did not know about. While talking to L’Equipe, chairman Vincent Labrune admitted that the club had indeed rebuffed an English club’s offer of 20 million Euros for striker
Loic Remy.
“In January, I had two files to manage. That of Lucho who wanted to leave and that of Remy who Tottenham wanted to recruit. I do not think any other president in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 would have refused the proposal the London club had made (above 20 million Euros).”
Although the proposal of moving to London was appealing, it was out of the question to see their number one striker pack his bags this winter. Moreover, with the club not being able to sign a new striker, the departure of Loic Remy would have been a big
mistake.
Apart from resisting millions of Euros from the English side, Marseille’s chairman also updated on the case of Le Havre youngster Ryan Mendes. The midfielder impressed everyone during a Coupe de France game against Marseille.
However, the youngster is not going to come to the Stade Velodrome – at least not before the end of the current campaign.
“I also confirm the denial of Le Havre. We do not argue with Le Havre. They have had the player for a while we talked to Jean-Pierre Louvel, President of Le Havre before the game. He said we’ll talk quietly in May and not before.”
This clearly means that Marseille are going to negotiate with the Ligue 2 club over a possible move for Mendes who has clearly been a standout performer in Ligue 2 this season.
