Happy to play against his former club in the Champions League quarterfinals, Bayern Munich star Franck Ribery says that though he will not give the team a warm welcome, he has a lot of fond memories of his time at the Velodrome
France international, Franck Ribery would be the main actor in the upcoming two-legged Champions League quarterfinal between Bayern Munich and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-de-Marseille-c40127.
The gifted winger joined Bayern Munich from Marseille in the summer of 2007 and since then, has gone on to become one of the best wingers the game has produced.
The game against Bayern Munich would be the first time Ribery plays against a club that gave him a launching pad. Inevitably, Wednesday’s meeting is of particular importance for the Frenchman.
While talking to L’Equipe, Ribery said that Marseille has played a big role in where he is right now and he will always be in debt to the club that gave him his chance.
“At OM, I exploded and progressed. If I’m at Bayern today, it is because of what I did here,” said Ribery.
However, the winger knows that he will not get a warm reception and expects fans to whistle him which is normal.
“The fans, I know, I have not forgotten and they enjoyed the contact I had with them. But they will not applaud me. Today, I’m at Bayern, I do not play for Marseille.”
Ribery’s departure at the end of the 2006/2007 campaign was received very badly by the Marseille faithful who now have a grudge against the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 international. Regardless of this hate, the Bayern Munich man says that he is happy at the Bavarian club.
“I feel completely Munich. This summer, it will be five years I’ve been here. In this club, in this city, I’m at home. I am very happy and feel liberated. My family feels very comfortable. This is what I sometimes lack when I return to France.”
Franck Ribery has certainly adjusted perfectly to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904 since arriving at Munich in 2007 and one can expect Ribery to give a great performance at the Velodrome on Wednesday to show fans how far he has come since leaving the Rhone province.
