Olympique de Marseille striker Andre-Pierre Gignac comes out in the open – Ligue 1 news

While taking to L’Equipe, the OM striker explained the incredible turn of events that decided his future at the club. Gignac confirmed that he was not the one who had any say on his future and told reporters that Marseille wanted him to join Fulham.
“On Tuesday, I was asked to come to the club with my agent. There, I was told that Marseille want to buy a new striker and it would be nice to listen to proposals and we immediately understood the seriousness of the situation,” Gignac was quoted saying.
However, Gignac further added that things changed the next day when he was informed that the move to Fulham could not happen as Marseille had failed to land a new striker. It was reported that Italian international http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Amauri-c5381 was on the verge of signing for
the Rhone giants but the former Juventus man rejected a chance to join the French club.
Gignac also said that as he was about to leave for London, he received another phone call from the club management. The Marseille representatives informed Gignac about Sunderland’s interest in him.
“Three minutes after being asked to stay put, I am told that I have an opportunity to join Sunderland. But I could not say yes to either Sunderland or Fulham just because my club (Marseille) had decided to put me in exchange for Asamaoah Gyan,” Gincac said
before admitting his displeasure at Marseille’s handling of the whole affair.
A disappointed Gignac then said that he is not a mercenary and then admitted his disappointment. “I’m not angry but I have a slightly bitter taste in my mouth,” the former Toulouse striker said who is apparently becoming surplus to requirements at Stade
Velodrome.
