As announced in media a few weeks ago, Olympique de Marseille midfielder Lucho Gonzalez does not want to join Brazilian giants Internacional thus ruling out a return to South American football
“He is here, but we are in Marseille and you never know what can happen. But today, he is here and there,” said Olympique de Marseille coach Didier Deschamps about the uncertainty surrounding Lucho Gonzalez’s future at the Stade Velodrome.
Since last summer, the Argentine international has been linked with a move away from the Ligue 1 giants. However, till this day, the midfielder’s future destination remains unknown.
Earlier this month, Brazilian giants http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Internacional-c39573 were linked with a move for the former FC Porto man. However, it now appears that the midfielder does not want a return to South American football.
Since the beginning of the 2011/2012 Ligue 1 campaign, Gonzalez has seen himself confined to a mere peripheral role. Coach Didier Deschamps prefers using http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Morgan-Amalfitano-c26799 over the 31-year-old and it seems that the trend will continue as Amalfitano has become
a vital part of Didier Deschamps’ tactics.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-de-Marseille-c40127 directors are also keen on offloading the midfielder who is one of the top-earners in the squad.
Recently, Marseille president, Vincent Labrune announced a new austerity plan at the club which aims to reduce the burden on the payroll. Lucho Gonzalez, being one of the top-earners, is likely to be offloaded eventually.
Furthermore, Didier Deschamps is keen on signing a couple of players this January and could be tempted into letting go of a player he was responsible for bringing to the Stade Velodrome a few seasons ago.
Marseille paid http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Porto-c39186 around 24 million Euros for the services of the Argentine international. In his first season with Les Phoceens, Gonzalez helped Didier Deschamps’ side win the Championelle. However, Gonzalez failed to turn up the same performances
last season as LOSC Lille lifted the Championelle.
Last summer, Gonzalez was linked with a move to English Premier League side http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 respectively. However, the South American later negated all those rumours casted his lot to
Marseille.
