Olympique de Marseille’s Steve Mandanda denies he is moving to Manchester United
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-de-Marseille-c40127, has denied a possible move to the English Premier League powerhouse, Manchester United. Mandanda has revealed that he does not intend to leave his club to join the Red Devils during the
summer transfer window.
Mandanda said, “There is nothing in the rumour. I have a contract with Marseille and have no intention of changing squads”. The 25-year-old goalkeeper is seen as one of several possible candidates to replace Edwin van der Sar, who is set to retire at the
end of the season. The French international has been a vital part of Olympique de Marseilles squad and has been playing for them since his arrival in the 2007/08 season.
The Red Devils manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, has to find a replacement for Van der Saar. Ferguson managed to find the perfect replacement for legendary goalkeeper, Peter Schmeichel, after almost six years when his exploration ended at the arrival of the former
Dutch international. However, he will be hoping to find replacement sooner this time as Van der Sar will be leaving at the end of the season.
The Red Devils short-listed three goalkeepers at the start to replace the retiring legend. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Maarten-Stekelenburg-c22998. However, Mandanda’s performances
in the first leg of UEFA Champions League Round of 16 tempted the Red Devils management to short-list him as well. OM will face the Red Devils in the return leg of Round of 16 on Tuesday. The first leg ended in a goalless draw.
It looks like the French international does not intend to leave his club, as he is happy with his current situation. The 25-year-old goalie’s performances have led to many rumours regarding his possible move away to not only Manchester United, but also Manchester
City and Serie A giants AC Milan. Only time will tell the tale for the Red Devils, as they are in desperate need of a goalkeeper.
