  1. I have the Olympus E-410, and I absolutely love it.  I purchased mine a year ago.  I didn't own any lenses, so I was free to choose any brand I wanted.

There are MANY Canon/Nikon snobs that with tell you that anything else is just not good enough, but really, all DSLR produces amazing pictures. It's all about the lenses you put on your camera.

I choosed the E-410 after I went to a camera store to try a couple.  In the end I hesitated between the Nikon D40 and the E-410.  I choosed the E-410 for it's compact size, and it's grip just seemed perfect to me.

I recommend you go to a camera store and hold them, feel their grip.  If you're concerned about image quality, you can go to Flickr and visualise images took by a specific camera.

  2. They are very capable, versatile camera. I have had the fortune of trying out with all major DSLR systems, and I quite like the compact feel of the Olympus 400 series.

They are built to a high standard and will satisfy most of your needs. Zuiko optics are above and beyond most other optics available on the market (i.e really really good - even the kit lens is excellent)

One important thing, though - if you plan on doing lots of low-light photography, stay away from the 4/3 standard. Their smaller sensors are prone to noise.

  3. Olympus have a 4/3 sensor imo the 4/3 sensor is evil and you will get more noise at higher iso's. Save for a Canon or Nikon.
