  1. I actually chose the E-510 over the E-520 as a replacement for my E-300. The E-510 should have all the features you are looking for and 10MP resolution to produce large, high quality prints. The E-520 offers some features and enhancements over the E-510. In my opinion, it's not worth the extra money. I say go for the E-510 with the dual lens. You'll get years of quality shots.

  2. Well, I guess I qualify to answer your question, because I still have my  Olympus E-10 as a back-up camera sitting somewhere around....

But even without knowing a thing about E-510 vs E-520 specs I can answer your question using the same logic I would answer a question about any other SLR camera:

In today's world technology advances at such a rapid rate, that even the best hottest SLR bodies of today will be obsolete in a matter of 5-7 years, and then you will go out and buy another body that is current for that day. Lenses, however, provided, that you decide to stick with Olympus kits, will move from body to body and will last you for a long time!

So when you are considering your purchase, remember - lenses are your long term investment. So unless there is some feature specific to E520 that you simply can't live without, I'd definitely say go for a cheaper body and a better selection of glass. You'll have much more possibilities with the telephoto lens, than with a body that is a bit newer and better... And when you get your next body, the lenses will travel to it!

  3. L E M made some good points.

You must have some contacts with some local hospital's medical media department.  Call them and get their recommendations.  I am sure that buy now they are shooting many of their assignments using DSLR's.

By your question, can we guess this is your first adjustable camera ... 35 mm SLR or DSLR?
