Om or aum symbol tattoo?

im not hindu but want to get the om tattoo. is this disrespectful or dumb to get this tattoo? i like the symbol and is the main reason i started to look into this tattoo. i read other meanings that said it means that your are balanced since it is the natural sound your body makes.
