The Senegalese player has been promoted to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-de-Marseille-c40127’s first team ahead of the 2012/2013 campaign and is relishing the challenge of playing in Ligue 1
One of the 12 players who have been promoted to Marseille’s senior squad, Diop has expressed his pleasure over his promotion and is anxiously looking forward to next season.
While talking to reporters, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Omar-c28540 Diop shed some light on his footballing career and his adventurous journey from club football in Cameroon to Ligue 1 football with Marseille.
The Senegalese was playing in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Cameroon-c2865 not so long ago before he was snapped up by scouts from Marseille in 2008. After spending 4 years at Marseille youth academy, Diop has signed a professional contract with Marseille and is expected to be a part of Marseille
first-team squad next season.
Oumar Diop can play in more than one position and is hoping that his versatility will help him claim a place in Marseille’s starting eleven next season.
“I am generous, I talk a lot, and I encourage my teammates a lot. I am a player who can play anywhere on the field.”

According to Diop, there were few other offers for him but he decided to join Marseille as he feels that the French club would benefit him the most in his career. And the main reason behind his move to Marseille was because he has always dreamt of playing
for Marseille.
“I had other contacts yes, but Marseille is the club for me.  Playing for Marseille is like a childhood dream come true.”
The former Al Qadisiya player expressed his delight over club’s decision to give youth a chance and claimed that this will benefit both parties.
“That's great for us young people. In previous years, the club was not at all confident in young players. This week, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chris-c9006 and Najib Gadi Ammari signed pros. It feels really good to see OM giving a chance to young people.”
Olympique de Marseille will kick-start their 2012/2013 Ligue 1 campaign on August 11 when they face Stade de Reims in their opening fixture.
