Omar Infante looks to prolong his stay with Miami Marlins as he finds a place at second base - MLB

Omar Infante feels at home with the Miami Marlins after being awarded a contract extension of two years following last season performance. For him Marlins are more than just a club, a place where one is heard, respected and acknowledged does not leave any
reason for one to leave it. Excited by new uniform and new stadium Marlins are going to have this season; he looks to have another fabulous year with the team.
Originally starting as shortstop in 2003 from a club Detroit Tigers, he was moved to second base as his ability with the glove later turned out better.
Never finding a permanent place at any single club, he will soon see himself traded from one club to another. His poor start with Tigers led him to be traded to Chicago Cubs and from there afterwards to Atlanta Braves and then all the way back to Marlins.
Among reasons behind plethora of trades he was part of in his career is his inability to find a proper role in the game.
Case of him was such that, every club will realise that he got the talent, none however will find a way to get best out of him. As soon as he will start finding comfort at one place in the field, he will soon either be switched to other place or benched
altogether for numbers of games.
Against this backdrop, it comes out as no surprise that he cites his permanence at second base position in the Marlins as one of the reasons of his success and thus his loyalty with the club. After having a tremendous last season when he had a .276 batting
average, seven home-runs, 49 RBIs and an impressive on base percentage of .315 as Infante had an option to invoke free agency. Asserting his loyalty with the club, he did not and signed a two year $8 million contract with Marlins.
“I like being a Marlin. They’ve been good to me. They gave me a set position at second base, and you have to appreciate that when you’ve never had it before,” He said.
With him at second base, Jose Reyes, their new shortstop, and Hanley Ramirez holding his position at third base, it will be interesting to see how these three co-ordinate and bring valuable outs for their side in the season.
