Omar Sheika: Yusaf Mack cannot sustain body shots and wears out early due to fast attack – Boxing News
Omar Sheika, the former WBC super middleweight contender, in a recent press conference shared his resolve to nail Yusaf Mack, the current USBA light heavyweight champion, and said that Mack lacks the resilience and the ability to absorb pressure adding that
he starts fast and therefore wears out early.
Omar and Yusaf are scheduled to headline the Friday night pay-per-view set up by the duo of Nedal Abuhumoud of Nedal Promotions and Andre Kut of KEA Boxing. The ring for the bout will be stretched at Resorts Hotel & Casino situated in Atlantic City, New
Jersey, United States.
The showdown will be co-headlined by the non-title eight-round bout between Derrick Webster and Sabou Ballogou and the event will be televised live on April 27, 2012. Omar, 35, has been in a total 43 bouts and emerged victorious in 32 bouts.
He has nailed 21 of his opponents by knockout and is considered a decent pound-for-pound brawler. Sheika, while sharing his thoughts about his Friday night opponent said that he is a terrific fighter who leashes his attack early and stuns the opponent in
the initial rounds.
Omar commented that he will exploit Mack’s fast attack strategy the most as this will make him fatigued in the later rounds. The orthodox Sheika revealed some more interesting facts about Yusaf and remarked that his 32-year-old opponent does not possess
the ability to counter or absorb body shots.
Sheika further added that Mack, who is infamous as the ‘Mack Attack’, is quite vulnerable to body shots adding that he does not like to be jabbed on his body. Omar commented that this is the same facet which he loves the most that is attack the opponents
body, wear him out bit by bit and eventually move in for the kill.
Omar stated, “I know Yusaf is a good fighter. He comes to fight. He starts outs pretty fast, but eventually wears out. You really can break him down. He was winning almost all of the fights that he lost. His opponents basically broke him down because Yusaf
doesn’t like pressure. He doesn’t like body shots and that is the type of fighters that I love to face. I am a pressure fighter who wants the knockout. I feel confident that I will break him down and come out on top Friday night.”
When asked as to what are his future plans after Yusaf-clash, Omar simply said that he is eager to win a world title and after nailing Mack he will consider himself eligible and capable enough to take on either Tavoris Cloud or the winner of Chad Dawson-Bernard
Hopkins bout.
Omar added that he cannot afford to waste anymore time since he is getting older and is in dire need of becoming a world champion just for once.
