Omari Banks geared up to assist Leewards with his county experience
Omari Banks, the all-rounder from Leeward Islands, is all set to utilize his county experience in the Caribbean T20 that kicks off on July 22 in Barbados. The champion from the tournament will qualify for the 2010 Champions League that will be staged in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 from September 10 to 26.
Omari, who played county cricket for Somerset this season, said that the experience that he has gained in England would help him a lot when he will represent Leeward in the Caribbean T20 at Barbados.
Banks also played the 2009 Champions League T20 and is aiming for this year’s as well. He said that the county cricket that he played in England has given him a mature approach towards the game.
Born to a noted Anguillan musician Bankie Banxs on 17th July 1982, Omari Ahmed Clemente Banks is the ever first Anguillan to play Test cricket. He plays cricket for the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 cricket team alongside with Somerset and Leeward Islands.
Making his Test debut in May 2003 against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746, Banks has played 10 Test matches taking 28 wickets. He played 5 ODIs and took seven wickets. He has been pretty successful in First Class cricket where he has taken 179 wickets after playing 72 matches.
The 28 years old West Indian all-rounder said that he is well aware of how and where to apply his county experience as he has very good idea of what is most important and what is expected.
The all-rounder will also be the vice captain of Leeward Islands in the Caribbean series. Banks, who was also part of last year’s Champions League, said that the 2009 league was amazing and playing against the big names of cricket was a real thrill for him.
Banks said that Leeward Islands have got a good team and the players will do well by backing each other. He said that most of the players making it to the Caribbean T20 squad of Leeward Islands have been playing together and they comprehend each other.
The right-arm off-breaker said that the team might not be able to show audacity that other teams would, however the team is confident to give a good performance in the tournament.
All-rounder Wilden Cornwall will be the in charge of the Leeward Islands. The side also includes Runako Morton and the fast bowlers Lionel Baker and Gavin Tonge. Both of the seamers have played international cricket as well.

Omari said that his team is well aware of the requirements of the shortest format of the game and knows that T20 is a game that can change anytime. The all-rounder was not at all impressed of the big talks coming from the other teams participating in the T20 tournament as he said that they would not be worried of all that other sides are claiming.
He said that Leewards will go out and play its own game creating the momentum and capitalizing on the opportunities that it will get on the way.
