Omega Dubai Ladies Masters 2012 to feature a stellar field line-up
Laura Davies, the professional golfer from England, has been paired up with the Chinese lady golfer, Shanshan Feng, in the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters 2012.
Davies, who is also the ambassador of golf in Dubai, is hoping to win the challenge after a 7th position in the last tournament she played, Hero Women’s Indian Open.
The Omega Dubai Ladies Masters starts from the 3rd of December and is taking place on the fairways of the Emirates Golf Course.
Feng belongs to mainland China and has been the only woman from there to win a title on the Ladies Professional Golf Association Tour.
The Dubai-based golfer, Kavita Sehmi, will be teaming up with the American, Michelle Wie, who has been the youngest player, at the age of 10, to qualify for the United States Golf Association Amateur Championships.
The Omega Dubai Ladies Masters that is to be held in the first week of December includes top players from the Ladies European Tour and the Ladies Professional Golf Association Tour.
Kavita, who is the only player in the tournament to play with a one handicap, will be going into the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters hoping that she gets to make the cut.
There are no such goals for the Dubai-based player, as she just wants to stick to the basics and cope up with the level of play. Making the cut will definitely be a major achievement for the teenager, Kavita.
Lexi Thompson will also be participating in the tournament that will take place in Dubai. She has the honour of being the youngest player to qualify for the United States Women’s Open back in 2007.
Thompson has plenty more records to her name, as she was also the youngest golfer ever to win a Ladies Professional Golf Association Tournament.
The Omega Dubai Ladies Masters is a tournament that is enjoyable for both the players and the public. The fans can get up close and personal with the players.
They can access the course and the players before the start of the official proceedings of the match. The tournament is a reflection of the lighter side of golf, as people come to relax and enjoy on the course.
Meanwhile, they also enjoy the opportunity to watch their favourite players battle it out on the course.
"We would like to encourage more and more golf fans to come to the Emirates Golf Club and cheer top professional lady golfers who would be displaying their classic swing," said Mohamed Juma Buamaim, who is the Vice Chairman and CEO of golf in Dubai.
There are three teams that have been made with respect to their pairings. Team one comprises of Laura Davies and Shanshan Feng.
