Omega Dubai Ladies Masters: Michelle Wie out of contention for the title
Michelle Wie, American Professional and was once a star golfer during her teenage years, did not produce the results she would have liked as the third round came to an end.
The American has had a below average tournament so far. She carded a two-under-par 70 on the first day of the tournament where she made four birdies and a double bogey.
Her second round went one-over-par 73. Wie made a series of bogeys during the round and could not put up the level of play that she is highly capable of.
Wie started her third round with a par score on the first hole, followed by a series of birdies. She carded a score of 33 as the third round came halfway.
The CN Canadian Women's Open champion of 2010 managed just a single birdie on the back-nine of the third round.
Earlier this season, Wie underwent a major injury and was forced to retire from the Lorena Ochoa invitational. Other than that, Wie had to prepare for her exams as she is a student as well.
The American came into this tournament with a great deal of hope. She had a pretty decent season so far but she wanted to put an excellent end to her current season.
When Wie was asked about her chances in the tournament, before the start of the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters tournament, she said,
“I’m very excited to be here and very excited to play, and hopefully I can do as well or better as last year and I’m just going to go out there and have fun”.
Wie said that she has not set any high goals for herself, as that would put her under more pressure. She said that she will just go out on the Majlis course and enjoy herself.
The American professional golfer is currently in a decent position on the leaderboard of the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters but is not in a position to threaten the top contenders of the title.
Shanshan Feng has been leading the tournament since day one, she is in a comfortable position to claim the title and dethrone the defending champion, Lexi Thompson.
