Omega European Masters - Grace and Hanson heading to Crans
The 2012 Omega European Masters is going to be an exciting one as the biggest names in the world of golf will be going head to head to become the champion.
The venue for this prestigious event is the Crans-sur-Sierre, Switzerland. The event is going to tee off on the 30th of August and after four days of spectacular golf, it is going to end on the 2nd of September.
Last year, the Omega European Masters 2011 was bagged by Dane professional golfer, Thomas Bjørn. After the four days of the tournament, Bjørn had a magnificent score of 20-under par and was four strokes clear from the number 2 on the leaderboard, Martin
Kaymer.
This year Bjørn will be looking to defend his title and become the champion again. In the Omega Masters, the biggest names in the world of golf will be featuring. The list of players also includes Branden Grace.
Branden Grace is a young player with only 24 years of age. Till now he has bagged three European titles and is quickly becoming the new golf sensation.
In the past years, he has really proven himself to be one of the best and has the ability to perform against the best.
Currently the South African professional golfer is in the 9th spot in the Race to Dubai. He has also occupied a spot right outside the top-50 players in the official golf ranking of the world.
Once before, Grace has played at the Crans-sur-Sierre. This is going to be his second time at the course. He gave his debut in the tournament in the year 2009.
On 30th August, it will be Grace’s second try for the 2.1 million Euros Tournament. This year the youngster will make sure he leaves his mark and gives a tough time to anyone in the event.
Besides Branden Grace, the other player who is going to be under the spotlight for the tournament is the Swedish professional golfer Peter Hanson.
Hanson is currently trying to qualify for the European Team in the Ryder Cup, which is going to take place on the 25th of September 2012.
Till now the 34-year-old has bagged four European Tour titles. His best performance in the majors was tied third in the Masters Tournament in the year 2012.
Last year, he had a remarkable last round of 64 and ended the tournament tied at the 25th position. This year, he will be looking to play even better and bag the trophy.
