Omega signs South Korean golfer Noh Seung-yul as brand ambassador
The Swiss watchmaker Omega has expanded its family by signing the winner of the Asian Order of Merit, Noh Seung-yul as its brand ambassador.
At a press conference, Omega President Stephen Urquhart said, “We are delighted that SY Noh is joining our roster of ambassadors and I can't imagine a better place to welcome him to the family than the Dubai Desert Classic. The best golfers in the world will be there and he will have the chance to prove that he belongs in their company.”
19-year-old Noh is the youngest golfer on the Asian Tour to lead the order of merit. The Korean won the Maybank Malaysian Open in 2010 and climbed to the top to become the Rookie of the Year.
The Korean was extremely pleased with his accomplishment. He addressed the press at the Dubai Desert Classic pro-am and said, “I am happy to be working with OMEGA as an ambassador. The company has had an enormous presence in golf in Asia for many years and I look forward to representing the brand at tournaments and events around the world.”
Noh will represent Omega at the Dubai Desert Classic, which is underway at the Emirates Golf Club. The player was part of a six-man Greensome Tournament, which took place on Tuesday at the same venue. He was paired up with Jeev Milkha Singh and finished third in the nine-hole event.
Apart from this accomplishment, Noh has the honour of being the first Korean to join the family of Omega, which has names like Greg Norman, Sergio Garcia, and Michelle Wie linked with it.
The player who won twice in his amateur days will play among the top punters on the course, which is recognised as the most difficult in the region. Noh failed to make the half way cut in the Commercialbank Qatar Masters. We’ll see what this endorsement deal does to the young man.
