  1. One of the important facts about brown recluses is that they are reclusive from people but not from each other.  They live in large groups.  It's possible to encounter a lone brown recluse but not likely.  If you have them in your shed or under your bed you will have a lot of them.  If you shine a light into a dark, long neglected space the presence of BRs will be obvious.  Just make sure you clean all spaces-- closets, under funiture etc that are not regularly exposed to light.

Don't go groping around in any dark spaces.  And don't mess with temif you find them.

  2. Brown recluse spiders are where I live too.

Don't be scared. They generally hang out in undisturbed areas. Not usually where you would be unless..you have areas

that are unused for long periods where they might be.

Other than avoiding sticking your  BARE hand into a woodpile or where they love to be, just get some Pyrethrin type spray..and spray around the perimeter of your place. It gets rid of lots of bugs. Good thing to do periodically anyway.

    I attached a link.

"The brown recluse spider is not aggressive and normally bites only when crushed, handled or disturbed. It is aptly named since it is a reclusive creature seeking and preferring seclusion."

    Prevention:

Shake out clothing and shoes before dressing, and inspect bedding and towels before using. People are most often bitten when putting on clothing that has hung undisturbed or shoes seldom worn, into which a spider has moved. This would be like clothes stored out in the garage or something.

"Do not go barefoot or handle firewood without gloves."

Got any more questions..just post it and I'll try to look back here.

  3. if u have never see one than you probably don't have anything to worry about.  Not to say there are NONE in your area.  Besides we have them around here and i have never been bit

  4. Those maps are generalized depictions, since it is difficult to define where smaller species reside, but if you're on the fringe of a shaded area its a one-in-fifty year incident that someone even finds a live one. Larger spiders species are rarely found in urban and suburban areas.

  5. It would be prudent to watch for them. Worrying does not have the same benefit.

I have lived in areas with diamond back rattlers, and yes, I have taken the precaution to get immunity injections because I was going into areas where they were frequent. While I saw many of them, however, none of them ever struck. So was it worth while getting immunity?

I would not have gone into those areas without immunity, so maybe it was.

  6. i live n those areas too

    ive seen them,,

    IN MY HOUSE

    on the walls

places any other spider has been.

    i just smash it

but you can get people to come out and spray this stuff around your house and you'll have nothing to worry about

    but yeah, there dangerous.

  7. We have them where we live.

The chance of ever being bit by one is less than you being struck by lightening when you walk out your front door in a thunder storm.

No need to worry so much about the little things in life.

  8. ask a local

  9. well I live in canada, and you really need to give more information, like where exactly you live, but either way, i absoulutly hate the suckers, but all that you need to do is watch out, and ask your community members, and take care.
