put white vinegar on a cotton ball and keep it on the cold sore.  rubbing alcohol works too, it dries it out.

a cold sore is herpes, I think TT was incorrectly trying to differentiate between HSV1 (oral) and HSV2 (genital). your life is still not over. if it's oral, just keep your hands VERY clean and avoid touching other parts of your body, especially your eyes (an infection in your eyes can cause blindness) and your genitals.

Just use carmex, it should go away in a few days.But if you have a Genital Herpes you can a prescription to help the blister heal faster reduce the frequency of outbreaks. And don't worry your life isn't over

No your life is not over.  Many people have the cold sore virus.  The absolute best treatment for cold sores is a prescription medication in pill form called Valtrex.  It was intended for genital herpes, but cold sores are caused by the same family of viruses, and Valtrex stops colds sores in their tracks.  None of the other treatments come close to the effectiveness of Valtrex, not the ointment Aovirax, and not Abreva or anything else.  Ask your doctor about it to see if you would be a good candidate for the meds.  My doctor prescribed it for me for cold sores about five years ago and after taking it only a couple of times I hardly ever get a cold sore any more, and I was having several attacks a year.  On the rare occasions that I do get one, it is gone almost immediately when I take the medication - in about a day.  Ask your doctor about it.

Do u think your life is over? U lived long enough 2 ask the question so you're fine. It depends on where it came from, if it's just a cold sore and u haven't been l*****g on a nasty person then you're fine, but if you have put your mouth on a nasty person, you just may have herpes.  If it's just a regular cold sore will go away, they just aren't the cutest things to have. Happens 2 the best of us.
