well, first of all, i have made so many improvements in taekwando. anyways, when we were leaving, grand master gave me 3 stripes (i have all my stripes now) and told me to come to the promotion test tomorrow. he made me show him my form (the thing where you do low block twice, and the other one where you do low block then punch) and he said i need to know my 2 forms and one step sparring 1-3. i know the first two steps in one step sparring.

the first one is where the other guy punches and you block the punching hand and the neck. the other one is where you block and then punch. I HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO DO NUMBER THREE. all i know is that you put your hand around your fist and elbow or something. please can someone tell me how to do it properly? otherwise i will fail my test!

You have to break a board too right? How do you break it? (kick, punch, what kind of kick?)

PLEASE do not tell me to ask my instructor, i dont see him until the test, and u cant ask at the test lol

  1. It varies from school to school what is need for each test.  Are you ITF, WTF, mixed, other?  For my yellow belt test, my kick was a reverse kick, and my step sparing 3 for that level was block/grab the wrist, with right elbow drive it into the armpit, then snap your arm up to his nose breaking it.  But I would ask a fellow student or an instructor.  You might not see him but call him up.

  2. kick every body in the face im a third dagree black belt thats how i passed it

  3. To break the board hit it squarely in the middle and focus your punch to stop about 2 inches beyond it. (You may be asked to break it with a side kick.)

All of your blocking and punching techniques should be in your Kata.

You also must be able to count to ten in Korean (I did anyway)

  4. IT WILL LIKLEY BE AN AXE KICK OR HAMMER FIST OR ELBOW STRIKE EITHER WAY YOU HAVE IT SO DO NOT WIORRY

  5. Sorry man, 1 step sparring techniques vary from school to school, so you need to ask one of your fellow students.

Show up to the test early and ask someone there.

As for breaking, going for yellow belt probably means you will break with a hammer fist or a side kick.

The mistake most people make is stopping at the board, instead of several inches beyond the board.  Imagine the board is a few inches further back than it is.  You most go through the board.  It will not hurt unless you don't go through it.

Good luck!  I'm sure you'll do fine.

  6. they will ask you to perform a certain kick to break the board.

as for the forms, i don't know.

  7. Well Im not a TKD student but I can break boards. The best technique is one where a flat surface makes even contact with the board. (i.e. back knuckle, regular punch, palm fist,)

Chops also have a high success because its the meaty part of your hand taking the force so there is little to no pain.

  8. Quite honestly don't expect to do real well if you do not even know what the techniques you are supposed to perform are called. I would simply be honest with your instructor and say that you feel you need more time, and explain why. Better to be honest and up front then to waste your time and your instructors time if you are not ready.

Thumbs down huh. So you people agree that somebody should be advanced that doesn't know, if nothing else at least the names, all of the requirements? Sounds pretty McDojangish to me.

  9. For breaking boards, stay relaxed and imagine going through the board. Don't stop when you touch it. Follow through the board. And a faster strike = more power.

  10. OKAY! ask an older student!

BTW! in most tests ive seen, there is someone who goes first depending on which side you are on, i remember one of my early tests and my partner positioned herself on the side that goes second cause she did not remember it XDshe passed cause i did

YOU should also know that in the yellow belt tests they will most likely pass you no matter what unless it looks like you have never done this before >.> that test is when the testers are most leniant

as for the board, just go through it full force and dont stop until you reach the bottom, you wont hurt yourself unless you pull back

  11. If your instructor asked you to come to a belt testing, then you'll most likely get it. Especially if it's your yellow belt.
